Named Manju's, this restaurant serves delicious Gujarati dishes in Brighton, UK. This restaurant has made its own special identity. Gujarati food made by Manjula Patel is quite popular here. Manjula Patel, who worked hard all her life, never thought that this day would also come in her life.
On her 80th birthday, her sons surprised her by giving her this restaurant. It was the biggest day of her life as Manju had always dreamed of running her own restaurant, but circumstances did not support her.
Manju got involved in cooking at the age of 13 when her father passed away in Uganda. Everyday she used to make 35 tiffins with her mother and go to the offices to sell them. When the government changed in Uganda, she had to leave home and everything and had to run away to Britain with her husband. Here she worked in an electric factory making plugs, from where she retired at the age of 65.
Every day after work, she used to cook Gujarati dishes for her family which she had learned from her mother. It used to include bhindi and potato vegetable to thepla. Due to her love for cooking, she still cooks and feeds with great enthusiasm. Since 2017, her vegetarian dishes at Manjus are so famous all over Brighton that a large number of people flock to this restaurant every day.
